Why I switched to Varmilo

After 3 months of daily use — here's what I actually think.

★★★★★

I've owned a lot of keyboards. Cherry MX Reds, Topre, even a few customs. But nothing prepared me for the first time I typed on a Varmilo with Kailh Prestige Silent switches. The sound — or rather, the absence of it — is genuinely remarkable. It's not that muffled, thuddy silence you get from foam-stuffed boards. It's clean and precise, like the keystroke was swallowed whole.

I've been daily-driving the Minilo75 Pro in Bluebell for the past three months, using it both for writing (I log about 6,000 words a day) and light coding sessions. The 75% layout hits the sweet spot for me — function row present, arrows intact, numpad gone. My wrists thank me every morning.

Build quality is where Varmilo really sets itself apart from the $100–150 price bracket. The case feels dense without being a brick. The PBT keycaps have exactly the right amount of texture — slightly matte, resistant to oils. After three months, not a single shine spot.

The VIA support is seamless. I had my layout remapped in under five minutes. RGB is subtle by default (which I appreciate) and fully programmable if you want spectacle. Battery life on wireless mode has been exceptional — I charge it roughly every three weeks.

If I had one critique: the default stabilizers could be smoother out of the box. A quick lube session fixes it entirely — and at this price point, it's a minor ask. Verdict: the Minilo75 Pro is the best pre-built silent keyboard under $150 right now, full stop.

Common questions answered

Which Varmilo switch is the quietest?
The Kailh Prestige Silent is the most silent switch Varmilo offers. It's far quieter than Cherry Silent Red or stock EC switches — ideal for open-plan offices or late-night sessions. The Kailh Prestige Voice is the next step up if you want a very slight tactile sound feedback.
Does Varmilo ship to Vietnam (and Southeast Asia)?
Yes — Varmilo ships worldwide with free shipping on all orders from varmilo.com. Delivery to Vietnam typically takes 7–14 business days. All major payment methods including Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal are accepted.
What's the difference between Minilo75 Pro and Minilo98 Pro?
The Minilo75 Pro is a 75% layout (no dedicated numpad), starting from $125. The Minilo98 Pro is 98% layout — it packs a numpad into a near-full-size footprint — and starts from $155. If you need a numpad but hate the extra desk width of a 100%, the 98 is your answer.
Are Varmilo keyboards compatible with VIA / QMK?
The VA80, VA100, Minilo75 Pro, and Minilo98 Pro all support VIA for full key remapping. Varmilo also provides a web-based driver at varmilo.kbhub.org for APT/APV models. QMK support depends on the specific model.
Does Varmilo offer a warranty?
Yes. Varmilo products come with a manufacturer warranty. For exact terms, duration, and how to submit a claim, visit their official support page at varmilo.com. Their customer service is consistently praised in reviews — see the 4.9/5 rating from 12,500+ customers.
